We have \sqrt{36}.  Then

36 - 1 = 35

35 - 3 = 32

32 - 5 = 27

27 - 7 = 20

20 - 9 = 11

11 - 11 = 0 .

We get zero on the 6th step so \sqrt{36} = 6
