L.H.S. (x-3)(2x+1) can be written as:

= 2x^2+x-6x-3 = 2x^2-5x-3

and R.H.S (x)(x+5) can be written as:

= x^2+5x

\Rightarrow 2x^2-5x-3 = x^2+5x

i.e., x^2-10x-3 = 0

This equation is of type: ax^2+bx+c = 0,a\neq0.

Hence, the given equation is a quadratic equation.
