Q1.    Check whether the following are quadratic equations :

                (iii)    (x-2)(x+1) = (x-1)(x+3)

L.H.S. (x-2)(x+1) can be written as:

= x^2+x-2x-2 = x^2-x-2

and R.H.S (x-1)(x+3) can be written as:

= x^2+3x-x-3 = x^2+2x-3

\Rightarrow x^2-x-2 = x^2+2x-3

i.e., 3x-1 = 0

The equation is of the type: ax^2+bx+c = 0,a\neq0.

Hence, the given equation is not a quadratic equation since a=0.
