Formation of carbon dioxide from carbon and dioxygen reaction is-

C+O_{2}\rightarrow CO_{2}    .............  \Delta H_f = -393.5 kJ/mol

1 mole of CO_2  = 44 g
So, the heat released in the formation of  44g of CO_2 = -393.5 kJ/mol
therefore, In 35.5 g of CO_2  the amount of heat released =
                                                                                                \frac{-393.5}{44}\times 35.2 = -314.8 kJ/mol
