8.11 Explain giving reasons:
(iv) Transition metals and their many compounds act as good catalyst.
Answers (1)
The catalytic activity of transition metals is because of two reasons-
- They provide a suitable surface for the reaction to occurs.
- Ability to show variable oxidation states and form complexes, transition metals also able to form intermediate compounds and thus they give the new path, which has lower activation energy for the reaction.
