Q : 1          Find area of the triangle with vertices at the point given in each of the following :

                  (i)  (1,0), (6,0), (4,3)

We can find the area of the triangle with vertices (1,0), (6,0), (4,3) by the following determinant relation:

\triangle =\frac{1}{2} \begin{vmatrix} 1& 0 &1 \\ 6 & 0 &1 \\ 4& 3& 1 \end{vmatrix}

Expanding using second column

=\frac{1}{2} (-3) \begin{vmatrix} 1 &1 & \\ 6& 1 & \end{vmatrix}

= \frac{15}{2}\ square\ units.
