We know that

Area of parallelogram  = base \times height

Here, 

Base of parallelogram = 5cm

and

Height of parallelogram = 4.8 cm

\Rightarrow 5 \times 4.8 = 24 \ cm^2

Therefore, the area of a parallelogram is  24 \ cm^2
