8.25 Give examples and suggest reasons for the following feature of the transition metal chemistry:
(iii) The highest oxidation state is exhibited in oxoanions of a metal.
Answers (1)
Oxygen is a strong oxidizing agent because of its small in size and high electronegativity. Thus oxo-anions of metals shows the highest oxidation state.
For example- , here manganese shows +4 oxidation state.
