Both can be distinguished by-

  1. Iodoform test
In acetophenone, methyl ketone group present. So it give positive iodoform test by forming a yellow ppt.
  2. Tollen's test
Aldehyde give positive tollens test. Benzaldehyde reduces the tollens reagent and give red brown ppt.but acetophenone does  not give this test.

Tollen's test – aldehydes give a positive Tollen's test. Benzaldehyde is an aldehyde. Therefore, it reduces Tollen's reagent to give a reddish-brown precipitate. Acetophenone is a ketone and therefore gives a negative test.
