Diffusion allows chemicals like water and CO2 to migrate from areas of high concentration to areas of low concentration inside a cell. CO2 and water flow within the cell when their concentrations are higher outside the cell than they are inside. They leave when the concentration inside the cell is high and the concentration outside the cell is low.
