For the area of the shaded region, we need to find the area of the triangle.

The area of the triangle is =\ \frac{1}{2}\times 3.5\times 2=\ 3.5\ cm^2

The area of the quadrant  =\ \frac{90^{\circ}}{360^{\circ}}\times \pi \times 3.5^2 =\ \frac{77}{8}\ cm^2

Hence the area of the shaded region is  =  Area of quadrant   -  Area of triangle

 =\ \frac{77}{8}\ -\ 3.5

=\ \frac{49}{8}\ cm^2
