(a) The movement of water across a semi-permeable membrane is affected by the amount of substances dissolved in it. Water moves from higher concentration to lower concentration.

(b) Membranes are made of organic molecules like proteins and lipids.

(c) The membrane is lipophilic, so molecules soluble in organic solvents can easily pass through the membrane.

The hydrophobic molecules (which are soluble in organic solvents) can pass easily through the membrane but water needs channels to move through the membrane as they are polar in nature.

(d) All the cellular constituents are bound by a plasma membrane. A plasma membrane is a semipermeable membrane which is composed of two layers of lipids. The plasma membrane does not contain any kind of sugar. Cell walls of fungi contain chitin sugar. Hence, option (d) is the correct answer.
