  • In addition to mitochondria, cardiac muscle is supported by a rich blood supply, which ensures that the muscle cells receive a continuous flow of oxygen and nutrients.
  • This blood supply comes from the coronary arteries, which branch off from the aorta and directly feed the heart tissue.
