                                          10.5\times9.5 = (10 +0.5)\times(10-0.5)

or                                                              = 10^2 - 0.5^2                                                                  \because (a+b)(a-b) = a^2 - b^2

or                                                             = 100 - 0.25

or                                                              = 99.75
