Given series is
\small a,a^2,a^3,a^4,...
Now,
the first term to this series is = a
Now,
a_1 = a \ \ and \ \ a_2 = a^2 \ \ and \ \ a_3 = a^3 \ \ and \ \ a_4 = a^4
a_2-a_1 = a^2-a =a(a-1)
a_3-a_2 = a^3-a^2 =a^2(a-1)

We can clearly see that the difference between terms are not equal  
Hence, given series is not in AP
