The general electronic configuration of s-,p-,d- and f- block elements are shown below:

For the s-block elements: ns^{1-2}, where n=2-7.

For the p-block elements: ns^2np^{1-6}, where n =2-6.

For the d-block elements, (n-1)d^{1-10}ns^{0-2}, where n = 4-7.

For the f- block elements: (n-2)f^{0-14}(n-1)d^{0-1}ns^2, where n= 6-7.
