Hint: For local maxima or minima, we must have f'(x)=0.

Given: f(x)=2x^3-15x^2+36x+4

Solution:

We have,

f(x)=2x^3-15x^2+36x+4

\Rightarrow f'(x)=6x^2-30x+36                                      

For maxima and minima f'(x)=0

\Rightarrow 6x^2-30x+36=0

\Rightarrow x^2-5x+6=0

\Rightarrow (x-2)(x-3)=0

\Rightarrow x=2,3

Now,

f''(x)=12x-30

f''(2)=24-30=-6<0

f''(3)=36-30=6>0

So, x= 2 is the local maxima.
