TAKE BOTH MASSES AS ONE  SYSTEM ,SO THAT TENSION IN THE STRING WILL NOT BE COUNTED.

WE HAVE TO FIND ACCELERATION OF 15 Kg MASS ,

Fnet=(Mnet)*(Anet)

Fnet= total force on system

Mnet=  total mass of system

Anet= acceleration of system

Fnet=15 * 10 - 5 + 10 = 100 N     (AS BOTH FORCES ARE IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION ,THAT IS WHY WE ARE SUSTRACTING BOTH FORCES.)

Mnet=5 + 15 = 20 Kg

Anet = 100 / 20 = 5 meter per second square.

 

TRICK :

BUT WE CAN USE DIRECT FORMULA IN ATWOOD MACHINE QUESTION

Tnet = tension in string = \frac{2m1m2}{m1+m2}g

Anet = \frac{m_2-m_1}{m_1+m_2}g
