Preparation of NaOH by the Castner-Kellner cell is also known as mercury cathode process of electrolysis of brine solution

cathode:  Na^{+}+e^{-}\overset{Hg}{\longrightarrow} Na-Hg\ amalgam

Anode: Cl^{-}\longrightarrow \frac{1}{2}Cl_{2}+e^{-}

In the castner - kellner cell , used to manufacture NaOH, graphite rods are used as anodes and Mercury acts as cathode.

Therefore, option(3) is correct.
