Lets assume the fraction be \frac{x}{y}.

According to the statements,

\frac{x-2}{y}= \frac{1}{3}

3(x-2)=y

3x-6=y

3x-y=6  ---(1)

and

\frac{x}{y-1}= \frac{1}{2}

2x=y-1

2x-y=-1 ---(2)

Subtracting equation 2 from equation1.

3x-2x-y+y=6+1

x=7.

Putting the value of x in equation 1

3(7)-y=6

21-y=6

y=15
