(b) O-nitrophenol is more acidic than o-methoxyphenol since is an electron withdrawing group, it increases acidic strenth by stablising the phenoxide ion due to dispersal of negative charge whereas
being an electron releasing group decreases the acidic strength of phenol by destabilizing the phenoxide ion due to increase of negative charge.
