Ahmed Khan, a plastic sack manufacturer has managed to find an ideal solution to the ever-increasing problem of accumulating plastic waste. His efforts include -

  • He and his company developed Polyblend, a fine powder of recycled modified plastic.
  • This mixture was mixed with Bitumen, which is used to lay roads.
  • In collaboration with RV college of engineering and the Banglore city corporation, Ahmed Khan proved that blends of Polyblend and bitumen, when used to lay roads, enhanced the Bitumen's water repellant properties and helped to increase the road life by a factor of three.
  • Khan offered the rag pickers a price of Rs. 6 per kg against the price of 0.40 per kg which enhanced their income and improved livelihood.
  • Thus, Khan's technique the city will run short of plastic waste to produce Polyblend and thus removal and proper disposal of plastic ware from the city was achieved.
