Answers (1)

(a) The castor seed would be chosen to observe the endosperm and be used up during seed germination. In bean seed the endosperm is completely consumed by the developing embryo before seed maturation.

(b) The development of endosperm preceeds that of embryo in plants, as the primary endosperm cell divides repeatedly and forms a triploid endosperm tissue and the cell of this tissue are filled with reserve food materials and are used for the nutrition of developing embryo.
