Following method shows the converison of Ethyne into propyne- 
                                  LIQUID NH3                _   +
HC = CH + NaNH2 ---------------------> HC = C  Na     + NH3
                                  196 K
           _       +
HC = C    Na     + CH3 + Br --> HC = C -  CH3 + NaBr
