Home Rule Movement The All India Home Rule League was a national political organization founded in 1916 by Bal Gangadhar Tilak with the name "Home Rule" to lead the national demand for self-government in India. This was done to give India the status of a Dominion under the British Raj. Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand and Newfoundland were established as Dominions within the British Empire at that time.[1]The Home Rule League organized collective social functions and participated in the work of local administration; This proved that Indians are capable of self-government. This increased the confidence of Indians and strengthened the freedom movement. The policy of non-violent protest was adopted by Tilak in the list of harsh suppression of the movement.Its first objective was to achieve self-government for India.Indian politics had become lax during the war period and the path of progress of the national movement was blocked due to lack of active program and effective leadership. Therefore, it was necessary to wake up from the dormant state of the Indian people. For this purpose, Annie Besant started the Home Rule Movement. Mrs. Annie Besant said, “I am an Indian Tom-Tom whose job it is to wake up the sleeping Indians so that they can rise up and do something for their motherland.The greatest achievement of Home Rule was that it prepared militant warriors for the future national movement. Under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi, these militant agitators moved ahead with the torch of freedom. The Home Rule Movement included many new areas like Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Sindh, Madras, Madhya Pradesh and Berar in the national movement. Thus the Home Rule movement did not go in vain. He had a profound impact on the Indian freedom struggle. This movement awakened the sleeping Indians and created a complete awakening in them. This gave a new impetus to the national movement and compelled the government to implement a new reform plan.
