Griffith experiment
Frederick Griffith conducted an experiment with Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria.
This was done to understand how characteristics are inherited.
In this experiment, he used two type of strains - smooth and rough. Smooth strains are virulent and rough strain are non virulent.
He injected a mice with a mixture of heat killed S strain and live R strain. This resulted in the death of the mice. From this, live S bacteria were recovered.
