Two parallel sides of a trapezium are in the ratio 7:11 and the distance between them is 17 cm. If the area of the trapezium is 306 cm square, find the length of its parallel sides.

As the lengths of the parallel sides are in the ratio 7:11,let the lengths of parallel sides be 7x cm and 11x cm.
Since area of trapezium=frac12(sum, of, parallel, sides)	imes height
Rightarrow 306=frac12(7x+11x)	imes17
Rightarrow 306=153xRightarrow x=2
	herefore The lengths of the parallel sides are (7	imes2), cm, and(11	imes2), cm
i.e., 14, cm, and, 22, cm
