8.11 Explain giving reasons:
(i) Transition metals and many of their compounds show paramagnetic behaviour.

Paramagnetism is arising due to the presence of unpaired electron. And we know that transition metals have unpaired electrons in their -orbitals. That's why they show paramagnetic behaviour.
