Given,

3-Hydroxy propanal (MW = 74) dehydrated to produce 7.8 g of acrolein (MW = 56) (C3H4O) if the percentage yield is 64.

So, The reaction will be if x mol of reactant is used.

Now,

Actual Mole of product = mass/ molar mass = 7.8/56 =0.14 mole

Theoretically, the Mole of the product will be the same as reactant x.

Given If the percentage yield is 64.

So,

\% \text { yield }=\frac{\text { actual yield }}{\text { theoretical yield }} \times 100 \%

64=\frac{0.14}{x} \times 100

x=\frac{0.14}{64} \times 100

Now,

\mathrm{\textup{Mass of reactant} = mole \times \textup{molar mass}}

\mathrm{\textup{Mass of reactant}} = \frac{7.8 \times 100}{56 \times 64}\times 74

\mathrm{\textup{Mass of reactant}} = 16.11 \ g

 the Nearest Integer = 16

Ans = 16
