\mathrm{R_f= \frac{\textup{Distance travelled by compound}}{\textup{Distance travelled by solvent}}}

On chromatogram distance travelled by the compound is =  2 cm

Distance travelled by solvent = 5 cm

So, \mathrm{R_f= \frac{2}{5}=4\times10^{-1}}

\\\mathrm{x \times 10^{-1}=4\times10^{-1}} \\ x = 4
