A food chain is described as the chain of organisms dependent on each other as a food source at different trophic levels The lowest trophic level contains the producers then herbivores followed by consumers, secondary consumers called top carnivores.

Examples of food chain are 

1. Grass --> Grasshopper --> Frog --> Snake --> Hawk 

2. Grass --> Deer --> Tiger 

3. Phytoplasnkton --> Zooplankton --> Small Fishes --> Big Fishes
