Do uv rays from sun melt the ice on antarctica ?

The UV rays do melt the ice as they have more heat energy and they also increase the earth's temperature which causes in melting of the ice glaciers. 

Thanks to the Ozone layer the majority of the UV rays do not reach the earth's surface but Ozone layer depletion is causing the UV rays to pass through it.
