It belongs to class ester.

(ii) Chemical reaction - 

CH_{3}COOH + C_{2}H_{5}OH\overset{H_{2}SO_{4}}{\rightarrow}CH_{3}COO: _{2}H_{5}

Role of H_2SO_4

The use of H_2SO_4 is to provide H^{+} ions in the medium so that the reaction proceeds.

(iii) Use in preparing perfumes.
