Satellites are objects that revolve around other planetary objects. These planetary objects are also known as astronomical objects. Satellites can be natural or man made. Those satellites that are astronomical objects and are already present in universe are called natural satellites while those satellites who are robotic or made by humans are called artifical satellite or man made satellites. All planets except Mercury and Venus have natural satellites.

Various satellites which are man made are sent into atmosphere,  these are known as spacecrafts. They are used for scientific research purpose and to observe the movement of other astronomical objects. This observation helps us to understand why things are in such a way as they are. They also helps us predict the future events such as eclipses and planetary movements. This is done to protect us from any harmful occurrences. Such satellites are also used for communication, weather forecasting and navigation.
