SNELL'S LAW :- For the given colour of light, the ratio of sine of angle of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction is constant.

\frac{\sin i}{\sin r}= \mu

This constant \mu is called refractive index of second medium with respect to the first medium.

Relation between absolute refractive index and speed of light in vaccum.

Absolute refractive index (\mu) = \frac{speed of light in vaccum}{speed of light in the medium}
