The rest position of the needles in a milliammeter and voltmeter, not in use, are as shown in Figure A. When a student uses these instruments in his experiment, the readings of the needles are in the positions shown in Figure B. The figure shows there is error in instrument

(1) In ammeter there is +ve Error

        L.C=\frac{10}{5}=2mA

Hence, the true reading of ammeter is =Reading +L.C \times division

=34+2mA\times 2

=3.8mA

(2) In voltmeter there is negative error

       L.C=\frac{1}{5}=0.2\; V

Find/true reading of ammeter =Reading-L.C\times division

=3.6-0.2\times 2

=3.2\; V

Ans. - =38\; mA\; and\; 3.2\; mA
