Animals have certain organs as useless organs in their body because during million years ago the organisms adapted themselves into a certain environment in order to survive. They have certain organs which were essential and fully functional during that time. However, during the course of evolution with the changes occurring in the environment and adapting to these new changes those such organs seems to be unimportant and hence, lost their capability of working and eventually become non- functional or useless in our bodies. They are also referred to as vestigial organs. For example, vermiform appendix in humans , third - eye , nictating membrane and many more.
