Hofmann Elimination of Quaternary hydroxides -

This E2 elimination gives the less substituted alkene ( Hofmann product ) rather than the more substituted alkene ( Saytzeff product ). The alkyl group having maximum hydrogen gives the major alkene if R groups attached to nitrogen are different.
