The metals of groups 7, 8 and 9 do not form hydride. Even from group 6, only chromium forms CrH. These hydrides conduct heat and electricity though not as efficiently as their parent metals do.

"For hydrogenation reactions, the catalytic activity increases from Group 5 to Group 11 metals with maximum activity shown by Group 7-9 elements." This statement is wrong as the metals of groups 7, 8 and 9 do not form hydride.

Both assertion and reason are false.

Therefore, Option(4) is correct.
