Number of Element in Union A & B -

 

If (A ∩ B) = φ,then n (A ∪ B) = n (A) + n (B)

- wherein

Given A and B be any finite sets. then Number of Elements in intersection A & B is given by this formula.

 

 

n (A ∪ B) = n (A) + n (B)- n(A ∩ B)

n (A ∪ B) = 60+50-0=110

Thus Shaded region = n(U)-n (A ∪ B)=150-110=40
