As we learnt

d-d transition -

When an electron jumps from t2g to eg in octahedral and e to tin tetrahedral it absorbs energy and when it returns back, it releases the energy. This is called d-d transition.

- wherein

For example: \left ( t_{2}g^{1} eg^{\circ }\rightarrow t_{2}g^{\circ}\;eg^{1} \right )

Due to absorption of energy the unpaired e moves from lower energy level (t2g or eg)

to higher energy level(t2g or eg) and when if return to its ground level it releases energy in the form of its colored light which is responsible for color of compound and this phenomenon s known as d-d transition.

Option 1)

Option 2)

Polarised electron cloud

Option 3)

High energy absorption

Option 4)
