GATE is a national level entrance examination conducted every year for admission into IITs, NITs and other CFTIs across India. Before starting your preparation, it is imperative that you know the GATE syllabus thoroughly to know the topics you need to study. Generally, it is the same syllabus that is covered every year. It is important to go through the syllabus so that the topics can be segregated into easy, difficult and to be learnt sections. A timetable must be prepared accordingly as per the convenience of the students.
Here are some of the important tips you should follow before starting your preparation:
1. Segregation of GATE syllabus to different sections- Using the GATE Syllabus and after doing some research and following the toppers of GATE segregate the syllabus to easy, difficult and to be learnt topics.
2. Test yourself at every step and after completion of each section - Candidates must practice from the textbooks having exercises at the end of every chapter. Start with them and check all the test series/mock tests online.
3. Do not neglect General Aptitude and Mathematics - Two sections of the GATE exam are relatively easy considering that most engineering students have mathematics in their engineering studies.
4. Time Management - Some students always prepare for the entrance test with timetables while some don’t follow a particular pattern. However, it depends on the student. They should keep in mind that they should be able to complete the GATE syllabus and leave time for revision and practice.
5. Take help from GATE qualifiers - Many students take coaching for a better rank in GATE. However, many toppers have studied much on their own and have enrolled themselves in test series for preparation. It depends on you to choose. Nothing is better until you are focused on your goal to crack GATE.
6. Solve previous year sample papers - Slove test papers and check whether how far your preparation level has reached. Also, know how effective you are at using concepts for solving different types of problems.
7. Avoid stress and keep calm - Try to avoid distractions and do not panic before the exam. Take meditations and walks for calming your body. Eat healthily and do some regular exercises in the morning and evening.
Hope this helps you in preparation!
Thank You!
