A similarity between optical and geometrical isomerism is that
each forms equal number of isomers for a given compound
if in a compound one is present then so is the other
both are included in stereoisomerism
they have no similarity.
As we learnt,
Optically active compound -
Those compounds having capacity to rotate plane polarised light is called optically active compound.
- wherein
Stereoisomerism is of two types - geometrical isomerism and optical isomerism. In geometrical isomerism ligandss occupy different positions around the central atom or ion. In optical isomerism , isomers have same formula but differ in their ability to rotate directions of the plane of polarized light.
Option 1)
each forms equal number of isomers for a given compound
Option 2)
if in a compound one is present then so is the other
Option 3)
both are included in stereoisomerism
Option 4)
they have no similarity.
