As we have learned

Product Rule:

If a certain work A can be done in m ways and another work B in n ways, then the number of ways of doing A and then doing B is mn ways.

Now,

Person will reach from A to C , when he firstly goes from A to B AND then from B to C: so both works are to be done

\therefore  Required number of ways

= (no. of ways of going from A to B ) x (no. of ways of going from B to C )

=  4 x 3 = 12
