We know,

for $^n P _r$  ; $n >= r \ and\ n, r>0$

for, $f(x)=_{x-3}^{7-x}\textrm{P}$

$x>3\ and\ x<7$

And,

$\\ 7-x > x-3 \\ \implies x<5$

$\therefore, x= 4\ or\ 5$

$^3 P _ 1 = 3; ^2 P_2 = 1$

Therefore the range of the function is $\{1, 3\}$
