What is the the principle of superposition of Electric Fields ?

best_answer

Every charged particle in the universe creates an electric field in the space surrounding it.

This field can be calculated with the help of Coulomb's law.

The principle of superposition allows for the combination of two or more electric fields.

So The principle of superposition states that every charge in space creates an electric field at point independent of the presence of other charges in that medium.

The resultant electric field is a vector sum of the electric field due to individual charges.

i.e \vec{E}=\vec{E_{1}}+\vec{E_{2}}+\vec{E_{3}}+\cdots\vec{E_{n}}

For example-

Suppose ,\overrightarrow{E_{1}} is the field at a point due to a charge Q_{1} and \overrightarrow{E_{2}} is the field due to a charge Q_{2}.

The resultant field where both the charges are present is \overrightarrow{E}=\overrightarrow{E_{1}}+\overrightarrow{E_{2}}
