best_answer

3x + 4y + 12 = 0

Let us convert it to intercept form

3x + 4y = - 12

Divide entire equation by -12

\frac{x}{-4}+\frac{y}{-3}= 1

Comparing it to intercept form, we get

x-intercept = -4 and y-intercept = -3

Method - 2

For general form of the equation of a line Ax+By+C=0 ,

x -  intercept = \frac{-C}{A},     y -  intercept = \frac{-C}{B}

We can directly apply these formulae as well to get the intercepts

Here, A = 3, B = 4, C = 12

So y-intercept = -12/4 = -3

Method - 3

As y-intercept is asked, we can convert the equation to slope-intercept form as well

3x + 4y + 12 = 0

4y = - 3x - 12

y = (-3/4)x - 3

So y-intercept is -3
