SKY wave propagation -

These are the wave which is reflected back to earth by the ionosphere. These are radio waves of frequency range 2 MHz to 30 MHz.

it is used for very long-distance radio communication at medium and high frequencies.

 

 Skywave propagation is used for long-distance communication, even over the curvature of the earth because of the reflection of radio waves from the ionosphere layer, with height electron density varies in the ionosphere and the effective refraction index of ionosphere depends upon electron density .Total internal reflection takes place due to varying refraction index 

For frequency above 30 MHz, usually, reflection doesn't take place. Hence all the above are true.
