Which of the following statements is incorrect regarding physisorption?

Option: 1

It occurs because of van der Waals forces

Option: 2

More easily liquefiable gases are adsorbed readily.

Option: 3

Under high pressure, it results in formation of multimolecular layers on adsorbent surface.

Option: 4

 Enthalpy of adsorption \mathrm{\left ( \Delta H_{adsorption} \right )} is low and positive.

If the accumulation of gas on the surface of a solid occurs on account of weak van der Waals’ forces, the adsorption is termed as physical adsorption or physisorption.

Physical adsorption is an exothermic process. This is because the attraction between gas molecules and solid surfaces is only due to weak Van der Waals forces.

The enthalpy of adsorption is low and negative not positive.

Under high pressure, the multimolecular layers on the adsorbent surface formation occur.

Therefore, Option(4) is correct
