The population of a town is 12000, if the number of males be increased by 6% and that of females by 8%, the population would be increased to 12800. Find the strength of females in the town.

5000
Let's assume Males = x
Number of female = 12000 - x
As per the question,
x*(1.06) + (12000 - x)*(1.08) = 12800
x = 10,000
Females = 15000 - 10,000 => 5,000
Let's assume Males = x
then females = 12000-x
now, 12000 + 6%f + 8%m = 12800
so, 6%f + 8%m = 800
6/100x + (8 ( 12000 - x)) /100 = 800
6x -8x + 96000 = 800 * 100
x = 8000
if males are 8000 then females are 12000-8000 = 4000.
Males Increased - 6%
Female Increased - 8% = 6% + 2%
The population of a town is 12000
12000× 6%= 12000× 6÷100 = 720
Then, 128000 - 12000 = 800
Then, 800 - 720 = 80
Extra females,
2% = 80
1% = 40
100% = 4000
Females = 4000 (Answer)
Males = 12000-4000 = 8000
